Justus, next in line but outside -- 

apart. Almost a part.

 

Just us, not you. Certainly

a good man, too good --

 

just not good enough.

Of 90 apostles for Judas' spot

 

two names came up.

One requirement: no more betrayal.

 

Justus did not seal the deal, 

seize victory, win the race,

 

beat out ever popular Matthias, 

make it an even dozen again.

 

Instead, runner-up by an eyelash,

Jesus winking from the shadows,


irony nailed to humility --

some kind of justice for all.
