Thousand ways to die in Utah

Canyons, bridges, jagged sheer cliffs.

Skiing out of bounds, jealous wife

number six. Speed always kills,

flattened on salt, zip-line over edge,

bike blitz downhill. Adulterer, again,

this time, her fault. Valium with tea,

vacuuming the dead. Naked run

in sage, caffeine withdrawal,

slurring bishop's name. All-nighter

in Moab, warm beer, no foam,

mobile misdials, pocket-calls

to priest's phone. Slipping out early,

flipping off fate, coming

too soon, praying for escape.
